The LifeStraw is a water purification device designed to filter bacteria out of water and is powered by suction. They are passed through an iodine coated bead chamber and are killed. It costs around $3.75 and can last for a total of 700 liters of water. This is a whole year of water. However, it is ineffective at killing Giardia lamblia, which is resistant to iodine, and too small be effected by it anyway.
